Are you curious about us? What is it like to live and work in Ragundadalen? Read stories from those of us who live here, check out our community life and what experiences are available with us at: Find your home - Ragundadalen

We are just over 5,000 inhabitants spread over about 40 villages, as well as the three urban areas Bispgården, Hammarstrand and Stugun, all of which are located along the Indalsälven River. In the east, the settlements are concentrated in the river valley, while the western part also offers a forest land through which the Natura 2000-classified Ammerån flows.

Sure, our average income is lower than average, and we are not Sweden's most well paid municipality. But there are values you can't count on, like freedom, security and community. And sure, you can't live on love and birdsong alone, but it's still enough to get you there.

Jamtli

Jamtli's three museums are: länsmuseet where the history of Jämtland and Härjedalen is highlighted, friluftsmuseet with cultural and historical farms and cultural environments, as well as Nationalmuseum Jamtli with exhibitions from the National Museum's collections Nationalmuseums samlingar.

The large width makes Jamtli one of Östersund and Jämtland's most visited tourist destinations. There is truly something for everyone here – old or young, curious or beginner, as well as for the die-hard history nerd and art lover.

Jamtli has a large and varied activity that has developed over more than 100 years. The museum was founded in 1912 and became a foundation in 1974. The name Jamtli is a Jämtland word and means approximately Jämtland hillside.

In addition to the three museums at Jamtli in Östersund, Jamtli is also a co-owner of several other visitor facilities in Jämtland: Jämtland Teknikland in Brunflo, Härjedalens Fjällmuseum In Funäsdalen and Geopark Indalsälven in Ragunda municipality.

Ragunda hembygdsförening

Ragunda Local History Society – a large and old association. Ragunda Local History Society started on May 12, 1929. With a membership fee of 1 SEK, 157 members gathered in the first year.

Over the years and with the development of society, the association has developed. Today, Ragunda Local History Association is one of the county's largest local history associations with nearly 550 members, which corresponds to every fifth resident in the area being a member of the association.

Föreningen har Ragunda socken som geografisk bas. Hembygden är där man bor, oavsett var man kommer ifrån, hur gammal man är eller vilket yrke man har.

Fors hembygdsförening

Fors local history association was founded on January 2, 1938 and works to collect and spread knowledge about the Fors area and its history. Since the beginning, we have collaborated with Heimbygda history association for Jämtland County.

The local history association exists to create community and togetherness between the past, present and future, between everyone who lives here and who comes to visit.

In our ongoing operations, we help to take care of and display our 17 houses as well as our exhibitions and collections. We provide cultural experiences and community at Hembygdsgården in Bispgården.

Stuguns hembygdsförening

In our local community association, we work within the parish of Stugun to create togetherness and solidarity between everyone who lives here. We strive to increase knowledge about the area with its history, nature, flora and fauna.

We want all residents to be proud and grateful to live here. We are an important link to the local community for residents around the world. In the interest of local preservation, we consolidate and preserve our natural and cultural heritage for the benefit of current and future generations.

I Stuguns hembygdsförening är vi cirka 110 medlemmar.

Sustainabilty

We are actively working to ensure sustainable tourism and that the geological nature values that we wish to highlight for the public are respected. We also administer sites that are not suitable for visit from the public, but are classified as of geological interest.

The 17 sustainability objectives of the UN are in focus throughout operations. The tools we apply are UNESCO World Heritage Sustainable Tourism Toolkit.
